As an Atlanta twin newborn photographer, some sessions stand out above the rest. Gaia and Athena’s was one of them.

Twin girls named Gaia and Athena, photographed alongside four generations of the women in their family. But what made this session truly special started with the girls themselves. At one month old, these two were already in sync with each other in a way that was hard to put into words. Every time we placed them together they settled. They turned toward each other naturally, as if they already knew exactly where the other one was. They looked content in a way that only made sense when they were side by side. It was clear they had been each other’s company for a long time already.

This one stayed with me.

How This Session Came Together

It was Grandma who reached out and booked this session. That detail alone tells you something about the family. Before these girls were even photographed, the people who love them were already making sure this moment was documented.

Gaia and Athena came into my Sandy Springs studio at one month old. As an Atlanta twin newborn photographer, I have learned that twins at this age have their own rhythm and their own dynamic. These two were no exception. They came in as a unit and the session reflected that from start to finish.

The great grandmother flew in the night before specifically to be part of this session. She did not want to miss it. When I heard that, I knew exactly what kind of family I was working with.

The Vision

The family chose a woodland inspired palette: green, brown, cream, and neutrals. It was a natural fit for the girls’ nursery theme and it worked beautifully in the studio. Soft, organic, and timeless without being overdone.

The colors let Gaia and Athena take center stage, which is exactly what you want when you are photographing two babies at once. Nothing competed with them.

The Session

We started with the girls together. Posed studio shots, the two of them side by side, tucked in, calm and cooperative. Photographing twins requires patience and timing because you are working with two babies who each have their own needs and their own schedule. But when it comes together, there is nothing quite like it. Two tiny humans who already know each other, already belong together.

Then we moved through the family combinations. Girls with mom. Girls with dad. The whole family together. Grandma with her granddaughters. And then the moment that made this session what it was.

Four generations of women in one frame. Great grandmother, grandmother, mom, and Gaia and Athena. The great grandmother had flown in the night before just for this. Standing in my studio watching that photo come together, I thought about what it means to have that image. What it will mean in ten years, in twenty, in fifty.

That is not something you can recreate later.

A Note on Booking Twin Sessions

Twin sessions require a little more planning than single baby sessions. I allow extra time, prepare additional setups, and make sure the studio is ready for the specific needs that come with photographing two newborns at once.
