Some sessions just come together from the very beginning. Leila’s was one of them.
As a newborn photographer serving Brookhaven, I get to work with a lot of families in this area. But this one was special from the start. I first met Leila’s mom when she came to me for her maternity session. So by the time Leila arrived, we already had a great relationship and I was so excited to meet baby girl. Mom came in relaxed and trusting, and that energy carries through to the photos every time.
Leila was nine days old and an absolute dream. Calm, sleepy, and completely unbothered by everything we did around her.

The Vision
Mom came in with a clear idea of what she wanted. She wasn’t looking to match the nursery exactly but wanted to compliment it. Her primary vision was a natural floral theme, rose, lilac, cream and white, with soft textures and a bundled look. She had seen this style in my gallery and knew it was right for Leila, especially since Leila’s middle name is Rose.
She also wanted to try a few shots with a classic Winnie the Pooh theme as a separate setup, a nod to the nursery decor.

The Session
We started with the floral setup. Leila wrapped in soft cream and pink, surrounded by delicate florals. The rose tones looked fantastic, and the bundled look mom had requested translated exactly the way she had imagined it.
Then we moved into the Winnie the Pooh setup. Classic Pooh, not the modern version, which felt right for a nursery designed around the original illustrations. It was a sweet way to connect the session to the space she was going home to.
We also had family photos, including photos with grandma who was here visiting. I love showcasing how tiny the baby looks in the parents hands.

And we finish with some detail photos of hands and toes.

Thinking About Newborn Photos?
One reason this session went so smoothly is that mom booked before Leila arrived. We had time to plan everything without the pressure of a newborn already here.
The ideal window for newborn photography is the first seven to twenty-one days of life. If you are expecting and based in Brookhaven or the surrounding Atlanta area, reach out now so we can start planning before your due date.
