As an Atlanta newborn photographer, I am lucky that I get to meet so many wonderful new families as they welcome their little one.
In February, Mara reached out to our photography studio in Sandy Springs to book a newborn photo session. Her baby boy Lucca, was expected to arrive at the beginning of March. A mutual friend, who lives in Houston, referred her to me.
We discussed my photography process and style, and the option of including family members and siblings in the pictures. Lucca was going to be welcomed by his older brother Nicolas. As a mother, I understand the significance of capturing images of all the children together, as well as family photos. However, just as the World Health Organization declared Covid-19 a pandemic, Lucca was born. We had a conversation about safety measures, and then proceeded with the photo session. Little did I know that it would be the last session I photographed before temporarily closing the studio for nine weeks.
For the photos, Mara wanted a color palette of blues and neutrals. They arrived at the studio in the morning, and we promptly began with the sibling pictures. Despite being only 23 months old, Nicolas, a proud big brother, exceeded all expectations. While working with toddlers can be unpredictable, we took great care to make sure he was comfortable in front of the camera. It was evident that Nicolas holds a deep affection for Lucca, allowing us to capture genuinely heartwarming moments between the two siblings.
After sibling pictures, I always follow with family pictures. I know the short attention span of a toddler, so we need to move fast. I love how beautiful these photos turned out of this gorgeous new family of four.
Once we were done with family pictures, dad took Nicolas home. We then proceeded to photograph baby Lucca alone. He was a wonderful baby model. It would be nine long weeks before I could cuddle a baby again!
These newborn photos will be treasured always.

We love to photograph baby between 7-14 days after birth, but we can obtain beautiful “newborn” photos up to 6 weeks.
